Originally launched in 1986 to celebrate 10 years of Tamiya R/C models, the Bigwig became famous for its advanced aerodynamics and unique styling created by renowned Japanese designer Takuya Yura . This modern re-release stays true to the original’s character while incorporating updated components for improved durability and performance. The slimline polycarbonate body retains the classic Bigwig silhouette and features refreshed markings, including the Mooncraft logo from Yura’s design company . Under the body, the Bigwig uses a shaft-driven 4WD drivetrain with full ball bearings for efficiency and smooth power delivery. Its 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension uses A-shaped front arms and H-shaped rear arms for strength, supported by CVA oil dampers for stable off-road handling . The buggy also features the Bigwig’s signature rack-and-pinion steering, a unique design among Tamiya off-road models .
